ITINERARY

FULL-DAY TOUR FROM CUSCO

SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS

Spend the entirety of the day from Cusco to Urubamba in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You will first explore the village and the ruins of Pisac, which were founded during the colonial times at the foot of a hill crowned by the remains of an Incan city.

In the main square you can see the market on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, where the locals exchange their products and artisans from all over the area sell their woven alpaca wool blankets, as well as ponchos, engraved gourdes, antique reproductions, jewelry, and other exquisitely executed handicrafts. On Sundays the main square is also a meeting place for mayors from all of the villages in the region, dressed in their traditional costumes ready to attend morning mass.

After lunch you will visit Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that was not overthrown by the conquistadores. Here you will have time to explore the ruins that tower above the town. In the late afternoon you will return to Cusco, visiting the traditional market of Chinchero en-route.

  1. Symon Bills

I had cero expectations whatsoever about this tour but am so glad I took it. Notes aside, the admission fee to the sites are not included but you can purchase them at the entrance of each park. My first thought was how incredible cheap this tour coats cause it was indeed a full day. I’ve seen 3 ruins along the tour and our guide was quite the expert. I didn’t like how much time was spent on the market but I’ve seen people shopping different items so I guess some people enjoy it, still something cannot be miss If you are in cusco.

  2. Paul Tucker

I don’t think I can say enough good things about the Sacred Valley or this tour for the matter. I guess we were lucky as we had a beautiful day even though it was February and it’s supposed to be rainy season but our guide was knowledgeable and extremely patient (cause once in a while the ufos questions come around), but then again we enjoy everything specially Ollantaytambo that is reach in history and we just adore the place and took so many pictures just there. I highly recommend this tour.
